Three large native pigeons
Scaly-naped shows a scaled neck; adult White-crowned a pale crown and coastal ties; Plain Pigeon is subtler and demands attention to neck, wing, and voice.
Fruit and time change abundance. Watch early flights between roosts and feeding areas before interpreting an empty route.

Ground doves and the city
Common Ground Dove is tiny; Zenaida is larger; White-winged Dove shows a white wing patch. Tail pattern appears best when birds flush.

Is Scaly-naped Pigeon introduced?
No. It is native to the Caribbean; the Spanish local name does not indicate origin in Turkey.
