Wires, ground, flowers, and canopy
On wires look for Gray Kingbird and doves; on the ground, grackle and Common Ground Dove; at flowers, Bananaquit and hummingbirds; at fruit, Spindalis and Bullfinch.
Dawn concentrates song, heat lowers activity, and evening activates roost flights. Repeat a route before interpreting an absence.

A useful yard without creating a trap
Native plants, clean shallow water, and fewer pesticides provide lasting resources; any feeder requires regular cleaning.
Reduce window reflections with exterior patterns, control cats, and keep away from nests. Watch a fledgling before moving it: its parents are often nearby.

Which black bird is common in town?
Greater Antillean Grackle is frequent, but tail, size, and bill must separate it from Shiny Cowbird.
